As the so-called independent, underground club music scene continues to self-police with market trends, unconsciously mimicking the mainstream music industry's demise, we try our best to ignore these unwritten rules and to take risks with unexpected output. In the T-Bet tradition, our latest 12" brings the first collaborative release from two established artists: Gabriele Carasco and Angelina Yershova, who offer the intricate, slowly unfolding Beyond Colors EP. Italian born, Zurich-based DJ/producer Carasco has already released a handful of solo EPs, most recently on Andre Crom's OFF Recordings. Meanwhile, Kazakhstani-born, Rome-based Yershova has a more academic background, having brought her experimental performances to festivals throughout Europe and North America. Does this mean suede elbow patches will become the new club fashion trend for 2012? We do hope this EP paves the way for more reflective moments on the dancefloor… Aside from the skittering electronic backbone in the background, "Beyond Colors" is crafted almost entirely upon acoustic sounds: upright bass, violin and piano, intermittently accented by abstract vocal sounds. Even the jazzy drum kit that enters later suggests that we are hearing a live session unfurl, but the timing and placement of each subtle change indicates studio precision. On the reverse side, "Overlapping Hands" works with a similar variety of sounds but with more emphasis on the beats, shifting and gently breaking and resynchronizing, while at the same time, sparse piano notes repeat at different intervals, showing a Steve Reich influence. Finally,Signor Andreoni (who co-runs our label along with Acirne and Cherry Baker) revamps this track with even more focus on the electronic pulse, crescendoing with the most club-friendly moments on the EP. |

The Deepness enterprise continues: Cologne artist ZIGGY KINDER is renowned for his distinct and crystal clear minimal funk, but already in 2007 he created his own personal parallel house universe with "Que Pasa Maria" on Souvenir Records. Since then he has systematically worked his way into the soul of his machines and cut back on speed and actions. First highlight of this development was his slowmo slapbass slammer "Assbomb", though his second new album "Barboom" takes deepness and moodiness considerably further. Instead of satisfying mainstream tastes trying to attract attention with common sounds and samples, Kinder returns to a wholesome "less is more" without being pigeonholed as purely minimal. He confidently leans back for he has found his perfect spot: "Barboom" is cool house, club, party, outside-the-box while being a comfy-groovy home in the swirl of triviality. The album will be available on CD, as a download and a four-track vinyl EP. Also watch out online for two snazzy videos: in his clip for "Meteoroid" a meteorite uses its magic forces to seduce a Cologne Carnival group into surreal midnight dancing. The super cool "Barboom" video features a liquid erotic dance cocktail of water and ink, which was not computer-animated but completely filmed and edited! |

With SA012 Dadub carefully collate legacies of philosophical thought and transpose them into a brilliantly deep EP. The vinyl opens with 'Perseverance' a slick slice of bass that writhes and twists around a syncopated core. On A2 'Temptation of Maya' seizes at the act of perception and what is captured is perfect for the mellow confusion of a Sunday morning. On the flip side the search for transcendence goes further with 'Beyond the Veil' which crackles towards a sense of enlightenment. The EP closes with a golden moment of contentment, 'Moksha'. The track titles hint at the search for revelation, which is rendered in countless experimental layers and finely wrought details. SA012 is a peek into the conceptual framework that Dadub engage with to create their vision. And just as their central image, Maya, is intangible in the perceptible universe, the tracks seem to erupt from an equally mystical place: molten, dark and fathomlessly deep. |

The time has now come for Eklektisch to unveil release number 006 and a debut from Melohman & Javi Bora (20:20 / Upon You). Staying true to the label's ethos, the pair harnessed the warmth of the summer and with flurry of piano chords, created another feel good dancefloor anthem in "You Love You." The first of the remixes sees label boss Edu Imbernon pay tribute to his summer on the White Isle with his 'VillaImberLove' remix. A weighty kick drum, spritely key melody and fiercely plucked strings make for a more driving version of the original. More upfront still, is the rework from UK house don Steve Mac. Having spent enough time of his own in Ibiza this summer and celebrated the release of his artist album "Roots", Steve looks to inject a large dose of pace and tech-muscle, whilst bathing us in aggressive and effective synths. |

More clearly the Winterfloor in view has J Alexander, who brings a nicely marching Minimalgroove to the start to teach the kind of nice melancholy then with a dim and inexpressibly touching melody to every dancer which goes directly to the heart and catapultsone into unexpected spheres of the ego. In the original Arabica has proper Funk on the bass ribs, rocks carelessly all over through the space and the arabesque-style vocal scrap blows so incredibly hypnotising by the track that you feel has to make a smooth ride on the back of a meandering sand storm. Pierre Deutschmann knows in his remix only one direction: floorward! The sound aesthetics of the track has deeply internalised the force from the best Oldschool days and drives the dancehall visitor, broadly grinning, before itself. Powerful, direct and without ornamental accessories, beaten out of sound granite for the peak time of the night.
